On Thursday, October 19th, Rita and Ann are co-hosting the fabulous Repast Baroque Ensemble for a concert in Ritaโs beautiful Brooklyn Heights brownstone. Please join us for an intimate concert of French Baroque music played in a perfect setting for Early Music.
Plan to arrive at 7 PM for a half hour of visiting with new and old friends. The performance will begin at 7:30 PM. Since the concert will take place on the parlor floor and refreshments will be offered on the ground floor, there will be no intermission, just a pause to allow the musicians time to catch their collective breath.
The hosts will provide a selection of snacks and some wine and sodas, before and after the concert. Please bring a beverage of your choice to enjoy and share.
This concert will feature six musicians, a rather large ensemble for an at home GroupMuse gathering. So, we (and the musicians) will be grateful for your generous payment in appreciation for this special occasion.
What's the music?
Repast will play music by Francois Couperin, Marin Marais, Jean-Marie Leclair, Jacques Morel, and Elisabeth Jacquet de-la-Guerre. Our ensemble of two violinists, two viola da gamba players, and a harpsichordist will create a wonderfully lush, string-y sound. Our mission is to turn everyone into passionate fans of French baroque music!
Besides the above-listed musicians, we will have a special guest violinist from Montreal named Helene Plouffe.
