A few weeks back, we had a wildly popular sold-out Night Out at the irrepressibly cool (le) poisson rouge (known to its friends as LPR) - a classical music night club that’s had as much of an impact on the culture of classical music than anything in a generation.
And, so, we’re pleased as punch to report that they want us back for what will probably be the last Night Out of the summer season (but don't worry we’ll of course have oodles of tasties come the fall).
On Wednesday, August 23rd, at 7pm Raffi Besalyan, an Armenian-American and one of the most celebrated and decorated pianists of his generation, will be sharing with us a fascinating program of music from his homeland (and, indeed, Armenia has one of the richest and most unique classical traditions of any nation) in dialogue with music of the wider world, with works of George Gershwin and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
While assuredly a showcase of Besalayan staggering virtuosity, it’ll also be a real journey and a celebration of a classical tradition that too often goes unappreciated in this new world.
And our wonderful brothers-in-arms at LPR have given us a limited stack of tickets for $15* (and $10 for supermusers), but, it is indeed limited, so hustle!
——
*Note: The tickets will be for both standing room and spots at a cabaret table. Spots at a cabaret table are more limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Also, table spot come with a required two drink minimum, but the bar at LPR is absolutely epic. It's the size of the Colorado Plateau
**Another Note: The doors to the show will be at 6pm, and the music will start at 7pm.
