Come on over to the Joe Goode Annex to listen to the Thalea String Quartet, the first ever quartet in residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Enjoy their stirring performance in a unique, intimate, and casual setting with other music and arts lovers.
What's the music?
Howdy! We are the Thalea String Quartet from San Francisco and we are REALLY excited to be playing this Groupmuse at the home of the amazing Joe Goode Performance Group. We've been collaborating with JGPG for the last two weeks in preparation for an upcoming run of shows at the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts but before those shows start we thought we'd all get together and have a PARTY!
We'll be performing a FRESH new Haydn quartet in the first set alongside one of our FAVORITE pieces by the Irish composer Garth Knox. Our second set will be two movements from a late Beethoven quartet. The first is a piece that's currently floating around space on the Voyager and the second is Beethoven's EPIC GROßE FUGE (Great Fugue), which is basically a FREE FOR ALL BATTLE TO THE DEATH for string quartet...but not really.
Bring a friend! Bring two friends!! See you there!!!
-Set 1-
Joseph Haydn: String Quartet Op. 76 No. 5
Garth Knox: Satellites- III. Dimensions
-Set 2-
Beethoven: String Quartet Op. 130 - V. Cavatina
Beethoven: Grosse Fuge, Op. 133
