Hi! I'm excited to host another Groupmuse - this time it's a very special blend Operamuse!
THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO
Parking might be a bit of a challenge as this is downtown.
Bus stops are close by, e.g. the Convention Place Station with buses from/to U-District and Eastside. It's about 3 minute walk from there.
There will be a few snacks and drinks, but not enough for all - so BYOB!
See you!
What's the music?
After a very successful opening, Operamuse will be doing another performance in Seattle of it modern adaptation of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. This comedic masterpiece will be in modern English and is a great way to experience opera in an intimate setting. Come see how Figaro (Julian Riesenthel) and Susanna (Erin White) deal not only with the craziness of their own wedding day, but also with Count Almaviva (Ryan Bede) trying to exploit his social status and rite of lordship, which is where a nobleman had the right to sleep with a newly wedded bride first on the night of their wedding. Figaro, Susanna, and Countess Almaviva (Sammie Gorham) devise a plan to try to catch the Count cheating on the Countess after the newlyweds have been married.
In addition to the singers, they will be accompanied by Collin Whitfield on piano, with stage direction by Michael Heitmann.
