So.
A few weeks back, we announced a Night Out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and sold all 200 available tickets within 2 days. After the performance, of the folks who gave us feedback, a strong majority said it was among the best musical experiences they'd ever had.
And guess what. The Met wants us back. Once again featuring their infinitely fresh and creative quartet-in-residence the PUBLIQuartet presenting a program entirely different from last time, this is an evening devoted to new works*, old and new. If that doesn't sound like it makes sense, I'll leave it to them:
"Focused on the music of our time, this program pairs works of world renowned composers/performers Nico Muhly, Caroline Shaw, and Andy Akiho with pieces by burgeoning young stars and winners of PUBLIQuartet's national emerging composers competition, PUBLIQ Access. These exciting, visceral, and haunting works aim to engage listeners with musical narrative while re-imagining the aesthetic and challenging the technical possibilities of the string quartet."
Once again, Groupmuse is getting a stack of massively discounted tickets - what, for them, costs $40, for us, costs $25. But these things fly, so make your move!
The music starts at 7pm, but we encourage you to show up to the concert hall as much as an hour early, enjoy a glass of wine, and hobnob with other Groupmusers and culture-lovers. Plus, the ticket includes admission to the Museum! So if you can, come even earlier, and soak in millennia of masterworks!
IMPORTANT LOGISTICAL INFORMATION
- Come in through the main entrance and the Museum staff can direct you to the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium.
- Pick up your tickets at the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium. It opens at 6pm - feel free to come early and get a glass of wine.
- The performance will be about 90 minutes long, getting out at around 8:35. There won't be an intermission.
*While it's true that living room groupmuses are always grounded in the classics by the old masters, the whole point of Groupmuse Nights Out is to give our community more expansive and diverse musical opportunities and this is a chance to see what the very cutting edge of classical music in this new age sounds like.
