The wonderful folks at St. Thomas Church are treating us to a Night Out.
The glorious Gothic revival cathedral is featuring The Boys of Saint Thomas Choir led by conductor Daniel Hyde, and backed by Bridget Kibbey on the harp in a performance of the absolutely angelic Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten.
The New York Times says "...for all the sweetness in the music, Britten also conveys rambunctious, boyish energy, which this performance captured…" which, I guess means that you've got to be there.
Here's what's cool: it's an hour and it starts at 5:30, which means it perfect for an afterwork treat. And because it's so early, we thought it'd be really fun to do something afterward, so we're planning a bar crawl for all 'musers who want in for some holiday cheer! In a neighborhood a little cooler than mid-town, no less!
Tickets are general admission and normally $40, but we at Groupmuse get them for $20! Simply because we're Groupmuse!
The music starts at 5:30 and goes until 6:30, but we'd recommend getting there earlier so you can snag good seats.
What's the music?
