We're teaming up with the lovely folks at the 34th Street Partnership to bring you three summer outdoor Groupmuses!
There’s nothing like classical music to soothe the soul after a long workday, and 34SP is making it easy for New Yorkers to enjoy some of the best with the Outside-the-Chamber Music series. Produced in partnership with Groupmuse, this program brings some of the city’s most talented chamber musicians to Herald Square Park for one-hour performances timed for the after-work crowd.
The next free Outside-the-Chamber Music event is in Herald Square Park, 6:30-7:30, on Wednesday, July 13, and features a wind quintet. The ensemble includes Izzy Lepanto Gleicher (flute); Ellen Hindson (oboe); Eric Umble (clarinet); Bert Hill (horn); and Remy Taghavi (bassoon).
Selections to be performed include Trois pièces brèves by Ibert, Kleine Kammermusik, Op.24 No.2 by Hindemith, and Wind Quintet, Op. 43 by Nielsen.
We invite everyone to stop by, take a seat, relax and listen to some great music. The final Outside-the-Chamber Music session is on August 10 and features Affinity Brass, which will perform orchestral and traditional brass selections, followed by some pop and jazz numbers.
What's the music?
Ibert: Trois pièces brèves (7 mins)
Hindemith: Kleine Kammermusik, Op.24 No.2 (16 mins)
Nielsen: Wind Quintet, Op. 43 (25 mins)
with Izzy Lepanto Gleicher on flute, Eric Umble on clarinet, Bert Hill on horn, and Remy Taghavi on bassoon.)
