Everyone likes the cello. Think about it: Yo-Yo Ma. That really famous thing from all the commercials. (Turns out it's an eternal masterwork by JS Bach, but if it helps sell CozyKittys, which are, incidentally, perfect for air travel, more power to it.) The theme from Game of Thrones. And so on.
But do you know what's better than the cello? Four of the cellos. Enter the Boston Cello Quartet.
The Boston Cello Quartet is a Boston original and it's probably the only world renowned ensemble consisting just of cellos. Oh, and all four cellists are members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
It's a real treat to Groupmuse with them, and they'll be celebrating their new album, The Latin Project, and so the evening will be latin masterworks by Granados, Chabrier, Albeniz, Piazzola and others. It also sounds like there will be some Mozart, who, while not latin, is Mozart.
As per usual, it's $10 at the door with a cash bar, unless you're a WCRB member, in which case you come in for free and you drink for free!
What's the music?
Selection of pieces from the album "The Latin Project" exploring the relationship between Spanish classical music and the musical traditions from South America.
