Lyrical Strings Duo, visiting the Bay area from Portland, Oregon, consists of Lucie Zálešáková on violin and Stephen Osserman on classical guitar. In 2015, the duo released their second CD, On An Overgrown Path, which features their original arrangements of classical music from the Czech, Polish, and Ukrainian traditions, exploring the intersection of folk traditions, romanticism, and storytelling in the instrumental music of 19th and early-20th century Central/Eastern Europe. The album has earned the praise of leading Czech Music scholar Professor Michael Beckerman, has been played on Classical Radio stations throughout the United States and Canada, and was selected as the “Delight of the Week” by the Music Director of a National Public Radio affiliate in Maryland. In this concert, they'll present music still evolving from the CD, focusing on folklore, folk-music and story-telling in central/eastern European classical music from the turn of the 20th century. They'll probably play some other brand new arrangements and a couple of their old favorites as well. We'll provide food and drinks.
The venue is Peter Glazer's upper-floor loft apartment, accessible by elevator, in Emeryville. The acoustics are terrific.
Peter Glazer lives at 1001 46th Street ("Vue46"), Unit 506, on the corner of Adeline.
There is plenty of street parking in the adjacent blocks.
Use the intercom to the left of the front door. Scroll to Peter's name to dial up for a buzz.
Residents are very thoughtful about security, so you may be questioned if you follow someone else in.
Take the elevator to 5R.
Turn left and go directly across the lobby and through the door marked "Exit Route."
Follow the balcony all the way around to the far left corner, Unit 506.
If you have any difficulty or questions, call 510-292-0589.
