A new curated contemporary art exhibition “The Context of Community” opens May 9th. It’s presented by Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) and the Harvard Ed Portal at the latter’s new Art Gallery in Allston. The exhibition features 25 artworks from ten artists carefully selected by Julia Ryan, the UVA curator, to encourage visitors to consider what “community” means to them. The opening reception will also include live music to complement and help inspire creative thoughts. During the opening, guests will be invited to assist in creating a “community” installation. Guests can choose from colorful objects and discarded and recycled materials and add them to the installation. The final “vision” of the installation will occur at the end of the exhibition. Prior to the opening, guests can visit the Harvard Ceramics Studios Spring Show, adjacent to the Art Gallery, to see an amazing array of sculptural and functional ceramics.
