Friends! Strangers! Lovers of Classical Music!
The people of 28 Stone Ave are hosting our first groupmuse! What's groupmuse you ask? An opportunity to see how many people we can cram into our apartment to listen to live classical music! Suggested donation is $10 for musicians. There will also be cookies.
Parking isn't great (and may still be buried under several miles of snow come March) but lucky for you we live right next to the Stone Ave @ Somerville Ave bus stop (86, 91, CT2, and probably some other ones!)
See ya there!
What's the music?
Nothing says classy quite like a solo cello programme - theme of the evening is "One Cello, Many Voices." Over the last three centuries, how have different composers tackled the problem of making polyphonic counterpoint using only one instrument?
H.I.F. Biber (arranged Ben Swartz): Passacaglia in G minor (1674)
Three Countrapuntal Etudes:
Jean-Louis Duport: Etude No. 8 (1806)
Alfredo Piatti: Caprice No. XI (1865)
Friedrich Grützmacher: Etude No. 43 (1897)
J.S. Bach: Suite No. 2 in D minor for Unaccompanied Cello, BWV 1080 (1717-1723)
Carl Vine: Inner World (1994)
