Isabel K. Superhost

Pianist Fifi Zhang has captivated audiences worldwide, from Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to concert halls across Canada, Finland, Spain, Korea, and Poland. Equally at home with both traditional and contemporary classical music, she has premiered numerous solo and chamber works by living composers. An alumnus of the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange, Fifi holds degrees from Columbia University and Juilliard and is currently a doctoral candidate at CUNY Graduate Center, where she explores classical music performance practice through a phenomenological lens.

In anticipation of her upcoming solo recital at Klavierhaus (March 30), Fifi presents "Matter & Memory," a program that reflects on how music preserves and transforms the past. These works pay tribute to memory—whether evoking a particular time, place, or another artist’s voice—while spanning multiple eras of classical music. Within contemporary compositions, echoes of the old masters linger, shaping a dialogue between past and present.
