Kev's Place is thrilled to welcome the talented Anna Leone to South Slope. Tonight Ms. Leone will be playing music from Brasil and Argentina. Hailing from Brasil, she's been playing Brazilian songs on the guitar since she was 7 years old. Her professional studies in Classical guitar has led her around the world, including the USA, Finland, and Europe. She has performed on TV and radio concerts and has dedicated most of her repertoire to Latin American and Spanish classical music.
While she has won twelve prizes in competitions from around the world and has two masters degrees in classical guitar performance, she still loves to connect with the audience and talk about the program, giving them background info so they can feel more connected to the music.
This event is now a potluck!! I will provide some cheese, crackers and wine and beer, but you can bring entres, snack or beverages to share.
What's the music?
This program focus on music from Argentina and Brazil, bringing a diverse repertoire that has influence from folk traditions to the classical music environment, while keeping the 20th century language. Composers such as Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla are well known for their modern approach in music, while Teixeira and Reis entice the audience with their South American lyrism in song tradition.
