Young Concert Artists (YCA) has been nurturing the beginning careers of and showcasing the world's best up-and-coming young musicians for more than 60 years, and they've invited our Groupmuse community along for a Night Out to witness the talents of Soprano Chelsea Guo, who will be taking the stage at Kaufman Music Center's Merkin Hall on February 6th.
Here's what Chelsea herself has to say about his program:
The seedling at the heart of my debut program is the friendship and mutual inspiration born in 19th century Paris between Polish composer Fréderic Chopin, and Spanish mezzo-soprano and acclaimed pianist Pauline Viardot. Come experience the fascinating connectivity between vocal and piano literature, as well as the dramatic contrast between composers who, carrying their own traditions, somehow end up in the same place – just as we will in the concert hall.”
Tickets to this concert average $45, but we've got them for a fraction of the price for our Groupmuse community.
Seating is assigned. Tickets can be picked up at the Merkin Hall Will Call.
What's the music?
Fauré | Ballade, Op. 19
Chopin | Nocturne in E Major, Op. 62, No. 2
Ravel | Selections from Miroirs
Ives | Piano Sonata No.2, III. The Alcotts
Songs by Pauline Viardot, Kurt Weill, Stephen Sondheim, and more
