Hello!
My name is Nicole and I am looking forward to hosting you for my second Groupmuse event on Sunday, December 22, 2024! Please join us for wine, cheese, and the classical guitar talents of Robert Bekkers in the Beaux-Arts style setting of one of Brookline’s most historical apartment buildings. Casual & comfortable attire is suggested for this event with a laid-back vibe. The apartment will be decorated for the upcoming holidays. Seating is available for up to 20 people.
Wine from Vinodivino in Brookline & charcuterie will be provided. Feel free to BYOB if there is a beverage you prefer. Please arrive between 5:00-6:00pm. Music will start at 6:00pm.
There is street parking available on Beacon street and the building is easily accessible on the Greenline to Cleveland Cirlce. The building is locked, but there is a key pad available for me to buzz you in. My code is 152
What's the music?
Sonata nr. 1 BWV 1001, J.S. Bach
Adagio
Fuga
Sicilienne
Presto
Intermission
4 Waltzes Augustin Barrios
La Cathedral A/ Barrios
Where does this music come from?
Bach's music has always been intended to enlighten the spirit and honor God. Even today his music can inspire us and spark a sense of awe. Like almost all composers from the early romantic period onwards, also Barrios took great inspiration from Bach. After all, there is no greater music than Bach, but then there is Barrios: Starting with four waltzes that qualify Barrios' style as being a South-American composer, I like to finish this concert with a piece that is clearly inspired by the music of the great master
