Cellist James Jaffe connects with audiences, colleagues, and composers through music. He has performed solos with the National Repertory Orchestra, CityMusic Cleveland, and the Stockton Symphony.
Recent chamber music appearances have taken him through Switzerland and France on concert tours, to the Robert Mann String Quartet Seminar in Manhattan, to Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music, to the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival, and frequently to Groupmuses in San Francisco, including a sold-out performance of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden at San Francisco’s first Massivemuse.
He serves as Director of Festival Rolland, a summer chamber music festival in Burgundy, France.
The music will begin at approximately 3:15pm.
What's the music?
Benjamin Britten ⟡ Suite No. 3 for Solo Cello
J.S. Bach ⟡ Suite No. 6 for Solo Cello
We highly recommend hearing both these pieces live! Bach's 6th Cello Suite always earns its reputation for heavenly proportions and harmony. The Britten truly rewards your attention with its compelling through line and seemingly unlimited textural creativity. Plus we'll get to chat a little about what goes into studying and playing these giants of solo cello repertoire.
See you soon,
James
