Groupmuse is thrilled to be partnering up with the legendary Handel and Haydn Society for their 2024-25 season to present a number of Nights Out concerts at supremely reduced ticket prices for our Groupmuse community members. But we've only got 20 tickets per show and they'll fly fast, so don't wait!
Here's what H+H has to say about the program:
"Love gone wrong has never sounded so right. From the unrequited longing of Il delirio amoroso to the breathless frisson of Tra le fiamme, Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen takes you on a thrilling tour through three pieces from Handelâs heart, music driven by passion and dramatic flair. Cohen serves as conductor, director, and storyteller all in one, working with the unmatched H+H Orchestra and audience favorite JoĂ©lle Harveyââa singer who can turn up the power on a dimeâ (Boston Classical Review)âto âachieve visceral excitementâ and âmake the music singâ (The Arts Fuse)."
More about H+H:
Bostonâs Grammy-winning Handel and Haydn Society performs Baroque and Classical music with a freshness, a vitality, and a creativity that inspires all ages. Called âone of the most exciting ensembles of historically informed performances in the worldâ (OperaWire), H+H has been captivating audiences for 210 consecutive seasons (the most of any performing arts organization in the United States), speaking to its singular success at welcoming new audiences to this extraordinary music, generation after generation.
H+H performed the âHallelujahâ chorus from Handelâs Messiah in its first concert in 1815, gave the American premiere in 1818, and ever since has been both a musical and a civic leader in the Boston community. During the Civil War, H+H gave numerous concerts in support of the Union Army (H+H member Julia Ward Howe wrote âThe Battle Hymn of the Republicâ) and on January 1, 1863, H+H performed at the Grand Jubilee Concert celebrating the enactment of the Emancipation Proclamation. Two years later, H+H performed at the memorial service for Abraham Lincoln.
Children over the age of 5 are welcomed.
Seating is first come first served.
