Host

Come join us in a beautiful Gough street mansion for the inimitable Beethoven Violin concerto. This will be a violin/piano reduction in preparation for the soloist's trip to perform this with the National Nicaraguan Symphony Orchestra next week. Don't miss it!

What's the music?

This week I will be traveling to Nicaragua for two performances of Beethoven’s monumental Violin Concerto with the National Symphony there in the cities of Managua and Granada. Join me and Keisuke Nakagoshi (piano) for a preview performance in the beautiful Gough House.

This musical journey has been my most thrilling so far, both because of the transcendence of the work itself and the break-neck speed I’ve had to prepare. I’m excited to share the result!

Where does this music come from?

The universality and profundity of Beethoven’s output connects with many as deeply personal. One personal feeling of connection of mine with Beethoven is that we both faced physical hearing challenges and a defiant spirit to make music anyway. I was born with only one ear but a deep inner feeling for music. Beethoven has been a lifelong inspiration of triumph over adversity and magnanimity toward humanity. I’m honored to play his concerto.
