This is a groupmuse

A live concert in a living room, backyard, or another intimate space. They're casual and friendly, hosted by community members.

Host

Have you heard?! Groupmuse is about to publish our 10,000th groupmuse!

For a project that started in a living room some 12 years back, and which hasn’t had significant institutional backing or major capital investment, to notch such a staggering number that represents so much joy and connection and sublime music—why, it’s a cause for celebration. And that’s just what we’ll be doing this season, all over the country.

I’ll be be coming to our nation’s capital and our most decorated DC host — Kathe Williamson, will be welcoming us to her gorgeous home in historic Georgetown.

🎹 Christopher Schmitt — among the very finest concert pianists in this great town, is leading a piano trio of eternal masterworks.

But this is not just a regular groupmuse—it’s a Galamuse, and you’re invited! Back during the height of the pandemic, when Groupmuse’s path was far from assured, we started a nonprofit, Groupmuse Foundation, to support the work of artists around the world and strengthen community bonds through music.

So we’re using this 10,000th Groupmuse Celebration to galvanize all the Groupmusers out there to raise money in support of musicians around the world—while having the best time ever doing it!

Tickets to this Galamuse are a $150 ($120 of this ticket will be considered a tax-deductible donation to Groupmuse Foundation), and of course additional gifts are welcome; we’ll have a few emergent musical surprises, the commanding majesty of chamber music masterworks delivered at the highest level, tasty hors d’oeuvres and drinks—and at intermission myself and Christopher Schmitt will tell the unfolding story of Groupmuse and of Chris’s new organization, The Classical Arts Society of Washington, which is having as big of an impact on DC’s local classical music scene as Groupmuse is having nationally. We’re so so grateful that The Classical Arts Society is partnering for us on this really special night.

If you’ve ever loved a Groupmuse experience; if you’ve ever been humbled by a centuries-old masterwork while surrounded by friends and neighbors in a warm and cozy living room; if we’ve ever helped you remember how simple, beautiful, and vital local cultural community can be… please join us November 3rd!

With all the love,
Sam from Groupmuse
