And they're back!! Our friends and Presenting Partners Parlando are starting off their 2024-25 season of fabulous concerts with a program titled "Night Music", named such for topic they'll be exploring -- "What exactly makes music sound like nighttime?"
For those groupmusers that haven't attended a Parlando event yet, you'll be sure to enjoy the delightful explanations that founder and conductor Ian Niederhoffer gives about about the musical and historical context before each piece--much like at a groupmuse! And because every Parlando program has a theme and contains a blend of new, underrepresented and standard works, expect to hear a combination of composers you definitely know, and maybe learn about a new one also.
The program includes Gabriel Fauré’s serene Nocturne from Shylock, Toru Takemitsu’s eerie Toward the Sea II, featuring flautist Yoobin Son and harpist Parker Ramsay, music from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s dreamy Flute and Harp Concerto, and Bartok’s legendary Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta.
Though tickets to this concert typically sell for ~$30, we've got a stack at a discounted rate for only $15 (and even less if you're a Supermuser!)
Seating will be assigned. Ticket buyers are instructed to pick up their will call tickets at the box office.
What's the music?
GABRIEL FAURÉ – Nocturne from Shylock, Op. 57
TORU TAKEMITSU – Toward the Sea II
W.A. MOZART – Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra in C Major, K. 299
BÉLA BARTÓK – Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, Sz. 106
