I would like to introduce you to Andrew Richards. Andrew is a fantastic vocalist who's recent album got a 4 star review on DownBeat Magazine! Ben, our Thursday jazz drummer, had the pleasure of playing in Andrew's Quartet for the last 3 years and thought it might be a great idea to perform with him at Marian’s. Andrew's music combines jazz and rock classics with some really fresh originals.
Please do not miss this wonderful vocalist!
What's the music?
The first set of this program will include music from our last 2 albums. Traditional, Standards, & Originals that blend the human condition into a whirlwind of sound.
The second set will feature songs from our upcoming album, to be recorded this Fall. This will also feature a blend of Originals & Standards.
Where does this music come from?
Born and raised in Vermont, I am based in New York City, where I aim to provide a refreshing new outlook on two classic American genres. Jazz and Traditional Folk are a great influences on my work.
My original music is a reflection of the careful and relentless study of the human condition. From the vibrant sounds of southern Spain, the chaotic intimacy of NYC, and the rich folk traditions of his Irish heritage. An endeavor to transcribe the human experience into song.
“Richards pens melodies that draw on the best aspects of jazz, folk and pop music” - Downbeat Magazine
“Andrew Richards is a welcome voice in jazz, one that is unique and distinctive. Let’s look forward to what he does next” - Wild Mercury Rhythm
