Update - if the weather is inclement, we will be in my living room.
We warmly invite you to join us for a special concert featuring a surprising duo: the clarinet and the double bass. This promises to be a unique experience— what better pairing than the brilliant, warm, and melancholic clarinet of Yasmina Spiegelberg, with the deep and resonant tones of Maggie Cox’ double bass? The night will take us on a journey of many sceneries– Piazzolla’s sensual and heart-wrenching tangos, charming duets written by a Beethoven who was still young and carefree, a fascinating and improvisatory composition by inti figgis-vizueta that explores gentrification. We will end with two duets intertwined for the occasion, one by Hindemith who viewed the combination of the clarinet and double bass as a parody, and the other by Morton Gould, who composed it for Benny Goodman himself, which means that the night will end on a very jazzy note!

Program:

Astor Piazzolla — Adios Nonino
Astor Piazzolla — J’attends
Ludwig van Beethoven — Duet no 1, II. Larghetto sostenuto
inti figgis-vizueta — no words
Ludwig van Beethoven — Duet no 1, I. Allegro commodo
Paul Hindemith — Musikalisches Blumengärtlein und Leyptziger Allerley
Morton Gould — Benny’s Gig

Other players: Yasmina Spiegelberg
