Host

Bayla W.

We went to a GroupMuse event in Venice and were blown away by the talent of people in our community. After thoroughly enjoying the experience, we decided that we wanted to share this experience and bring it to others. Please join us to be entertained by music and each other's company!

Short Bio:
Eric Ching is a jazz drummer and composer currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. He plays music with a tremendous amount of purpose and is infinitely creative in the way he manages color and shape.

With his compositions, he aims to explore new territory while channeling the spirits of McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, and Kenny Garrett. His pieces all have a searching quality where he isn't quite sure what he's looking for, but he'll know when he's found it. He yearns for the unexpected and his songs gradually unfold like a Tarantino movie.

We will be playing atleast 4 of my original works and more!

Avenue C (preview video): This piece is dedicated to the time when I lived on 9th St/Avenue C in NYC. I woke up one morning to the sounds of latin percussion and a full blown street fair on my block.

Crystalline Daydream: A modern jazz ballad that ebbs and flows in the vein of Aural Oasis by Wynton Marsalis.

Through The Grove: This one is off of my recent album, In Search For A Brighter Hue. It alternates between a modern groove in the spirit of Kenny Garrett and a swing feel.

Hand In The Sky: A nearly blank canvas that can be open to interpretation. It's a floaty modern straight 8th piece that's similar to the music of Robert Glasper.
