We are so happy to be back hosting with Groupmuse, after a few years' hiatus.
Join for an intimate evening of sounds, performed in our small living room in front of south-facing windows. Limited couch, and ample floor seating available. Please bring a pillow should you desire to not sit directly on our (clean) wood floors.
BYOB along with cash for our musicians.
Accessibility: Three steps lead from the sidewalk into elevator building; our unit is on the 6th floor, with no additional stairs. Our bathroom is not ADA compliant. Please be vaccinated and boosted, and do not attend if you are feeling unwell; masks optional.
What's the music?
Meditations, improvisations, and melodic vignettes performed on Hardanger d'amore, a sympathetic-stringed relative of the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle.
Where does this music come from?
My instrumental and compositional practice is informed by the Hardanger fiddle tradition, a folk tradition reaching back to the 1600's in Norway, as well as an approach to free improvisation guided by the practices of minimalism and deep listening.
