Victor and I look forward to sharing music that we dearly love with you in an elegant, intimate setting! 100% of proceeds will support the work of Symphony Pro Musica! Mark
What's the music?
Bach: Suite No. 5 in C Minor for solo cello. The six Bach Cello Suites are among the most iconic works for this wonderful instrument. For the past decades, Yo-Yo Ma has brought them to listeners around the globe, winning countless devotees to this great music.
Debussy: Cello Sonata. A highly imaginative work by a leading French impressionist composer. Central to the work is a depiction of moonstruck and lovestruck Pierrot's frustrated amorous nocturnal pursuits!
Isang Yun: Nore. A short work by Korea's most famous classical composer in a very contemporary style yet deeply expressive.
Samuel Barber: Cello Sonata. The style of American composer Samuel Barber is often described as a "hyper-romantic." A stirring work full of color and emotional intensity. Without question, the "great" American cello sonata.
