Hosts
We're looking forward to hosting cellist James Jaffe and pianist Jon Lee for an evening of music from the Old World (some of which was composed in the New World). We will hear compositions by Ulkar Aghayeva, a New York-based Azerbaijani composer, and Clara Schumann, a composer of German Romanticism.
This event is a collaboration with Ulkar who will be present at the groupmuse and will introduce her music. After the performance, we will have a Q&A session with the musicians.
Doors open 7:00 pm, music starts around 7:30 pm.
We are very thankful to Francisco San Grants (https://franciscosan.org) for the financial support of this event!
What's the music?
Look forward to a unique evening of music! Modern Azerbaijani composer Ulkar Aghayeva embodies the spectrum of feelings in the "Bayati" Suite and three piano fugues. Clara Schumann’s Three Romances op. 22 rounds out the program in a rarely-heard cello and piano arrangement.
