Come listen to Wave Chamber string trio (Ani Bukujian on violin, Alexandra Simpson on viola, and James Jaffe on cello) play a gorgeous concert of Beethoven, Borodin, and Mackey with a stunning night time view over the Bay.
Program includes:
Beethoven string trio in G major, opus 1 no.1
Borodin string trio in G minor, Variations on a Russian Song
John Mackey, Wrong Mountain Stomp.
Please note that street parking is quite limited, so please plan on carpooling if you can. The driveway up to the house from the street is quite steep, and there is a flight of stairs to get up to the house.
What's the music?
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Trio in G Major, op. 9, no. 1
Alexander Borodin: String Trio in G Minor - Variations on a Russian Song
John Mackey: Wrong Mountain Stomp
We can count on young Ludwig for electric musical energy, but to our ears, the wild card in his ambitious String Trio in G is the final movement - it sounds like Viennese fiddling! Alexander Borodin gives us a moment of repose painted in the dark colors of a musical Rembrandt, then we find ourselves on John Mackey's runaway train! Written for a summer music festival, Wrong Mountain Stomp tells the story of a young girl leaving home in the language of bluegrass.
