Host
We are delighted to bring Ian Scarfe to our home music room for a performance of piano virtuosity. He is the founder and director of the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival and a founding member of several ensembles, including the Vinifera Trio in California's Bay Area and the Zurich Beethoven Trio in Switzerland. As a soloist, his appearances with orchestras have come to prominently feature the music of Beethoven. Ian has been the host for concerts at orchestra halls, jazz clubs, and private homes, and has been the narrator for several children's concerts, including “Peter and the Wolf”, “Babar the Elephant”, and Rudyard Kipling's “Just So Stories”.
What's the music?
Chopin - Selected Preludes
Albeniz - Mallorca: Barcarola
Chopin - Barcarolle
Granados - Spanish Dances
Chopin - Bolero
De Falla - Ritual Dance of Fire
Where does this music come from?
This program takes our audience on a midwinter's journey to warmer climes.
We will visit the southern coast of Spain, with Spanish Dances from Andalusia and Seville, the Mediterranean isle of Mallorca, with Chopin's Preludes and Albeniz's Barcarola. And we will explore one of the greatest works by Frederic Chopin - his impressionistic and operatic visit to Venice, the "Barcarolle, Op. 60".
