As if referring over and over again to Mozart, Brahms lets us into the personal world of the piano. There is nothing theoretical here: It is all about specific tones coming to life literally through the fingers of the masters, so precise was their choreography! Children are welcome if you are aware of their ability to listen without fidgeting too much.... There is a hallway to which they can go to sit on the floor, draw pictures, etc.
What's the music?
Brahms: Intermezzi from his late years, writing for his own pleasure.
Mozart: Sonata in G, K. 283. In this early work Mozart, still in his teens, allows the piano's rich tonal complexity to ring if we will but let it.
