Hello and Happy Holidays! A warm welcome to old friends and new to our cheerful, cozy Glen Park living room (with roaring fire if we have a December chill) for a wonderful performance by the amazing and amicable pianist Ian Sharpe (founding member of the local Groupmuse). Ian will briefly discuss the background of each piece or composer in his romantic program, and there will be light refreshments (BYOB) and a social time afterwards to ask questions. Guests who are pianists are welcome then to play "The Duchess" (a holiday carol perhaps?), our rebuilt and refurbished 1927 Steinway Model M which is tuned to an especially warm, gentle 432 Hz pitch. We love making new musical friends and hope you will attend. We are taking care to be especially careful about everyone's health (and ours because we have aged parents with whom we interact) so kindly abide by our anti-Covid requests (honor system). Hosts will be masking but guests are not required to do so. We have three sedate, mannered sibling older cats, however they shall be confined to quarters upstairs during the event and beforehand we shall do our best to quell and vacuum away any evidence!

Where does this music come from?
This program takes our audience on a midwinter's journey to warmer climes.
We will visit the southern coast of Spain, with Spanish Dances from Andalusia and Seville, the Mediterranean isle of Mallorca, with Chopin's Preludes and Albeniz's Barcarola. And we will explore one of the greatest works by Frederic Chopin - his impressionistic and operatic visit to Venice, the "Barcarolle, Op. 60".
