Host

Hi there!

I'm excited to welcome Prague-based pianist Matyáš Novák who will be making his Groupmuse debut. He will be performing a program including Chopin, Smetana, Dvořák, and Liszt.

Guest arrival begins at 7:30pm with music to begin around 8pm. I'll provide light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks; feel free to BYOB. Please note I'd like to us to take off our shoes when entering the apartment.

Matyáš began studying piano at the age of five. He graduated from the Imola International Piano Academy in 2022 where he studied with Boris Petrushansky. Currently, Matyáš is attending the class of Ivan Klánský at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He has performed in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Serbia, Italy, Norway, Holland, France, Thailand, the USA and China. In 2017 he debuted in Carnegie Hall. In the same year he released his first album Franz Liszt: Années de pèlerinage: Suisse. In May 2021, a classical record label Nimbus Alliance released his CD with Mozart´s Piano concertos K. 413, K. 414, K. 415 which he recorded in cooperation with the world famous Wihan Quartet.

Matyáš is a prize winner of many prestigious international competitions, such as the XX Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition, XVI International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition, & the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. He has appeared as a soloist with the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, & the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others, and has performed in venues such as Weill Recital Hall (New York), Rudolfinum Hall (Prague), National Library of China (Beijing), Bohemian National Hall (New York), TivoliVredenburg Hall (Utrecht).
