This is a Groupmuse Night Out

Explore the wider world of music outside Groupmuse with exclusive discounts to local concerts.

Boston's own A Far Cry chamber ensemble welcomes Groupmuse community members back for another Night Out with trailblazing programming. Here's what they have to say about what to expect for this concert:

“Limitless” thrives in the space between restriction and innovation, where the repetition of ideas transforms the mundane into the profound. Each piece explores the power of a simple musical motif, from Liu’s birdsong as a commentary on the pressures of modern society, to the whiffs of melody in Lancaster’s our streets as a commemoration of the Tulsa Race Massacre. Ultimately, “Limitless” is about the potential inherent in each of us.

A post concert reception, including dessert and alcohol, is included in the price of the ticket.

A Far Cry is not your average orchestra. Called a “world-wide phenomenon” by Boston’s WBUR, A Far Cry has nurtured a distinct approach to music-making since its founding in 2007. The self-conducted orchestra is a democracy in which decisions are made collectively and leadership rotates among the players (“Criers”). This structure has led to consistently thoughtful, innovative programming — and impactful collaborations with celebrated performers and composers. A Far Cry has risen to the top of Billboard’s Traditional Classical Chart, been named Boston’s best classical ensemble by The Improper Bostonian, and celebrated two Grammy nominations for its Visions and Variations. Boston Musical Intelligencer sums up the group: “This conductor-free ensemble has earned and sustained a reputation for top-drawer playing, engrossing programming, and outstanding guest artists.”

More information about A Far Cry can be found on their website.

Accessible platform seats are available for all A Far Cry concerts at Jordan Hall. Please email [email protected] with accessibility needs after purchasing a ticket so that the box office can set aside a correct placement.
