What is WineMusic?
WineMusic is a concert series and wine tasting event that offers a journey for the senses by combining musical/performing arts and the culinary arts.
Should I bring my own Wine?
No! Through the collaborative efforts of professional musical performers and wine experts/sommeliers/winemakers, WineMusic will be offering a specific tasting menu, and all wine is provided.
How does it work?
WineMusic opens with a 60-minute prologue where guests arrive, socialize, enjoy refreshments, and have an initial wine tasting. By the end of the prologue, audience members will be seated, and the musical pairing starts. Thereafter, our host and wine expert, along with the musicians, will guide the audience through a wine and music pairing experience.
Careful research and thoughtful dedication will be put into the pairing of wine and the musical work which is chosen to create a unique correlation between sound and taste. Each piece of music will be accompanied by a wine pour from our tasting menu. After each piece, there will be a short discussion between the musician, the wine expert, and the audience about the pairing.
Do I need to know about wine or music?
No! All people are accepted regardless of your experience with music and wine. Our wine experts and musicians will lead the discussion. No one will be required to engage in the discussion unless they choose to do so.
Get ready to indulge your senses in a night of music and wine at the upcoming WineMusic event on March 25th, titled "Harmonious Impressions". This event is set to explore the works of the impressionist French composers Debussy and Ravel, alongside the lesser-known 20th century Spanish composer Frederic Mompou, and their ability to create vivid imagery through sound. Through their use of color, texture, and rhythm, these composers were able to transport listeners to a world of sensory impressions that will be expertly paired with the flavors of wine from the vineyards of featured Winery Lucas & Luwellen. From the dreamy and enchanting melodies of Debussy's "Clair de Lune", to the vibrant and lively rhythms of Ravel's "Sonatine", to the emotionally charged and introspective musical language of Mompou, the music will be a feast for your ears.
The wine tastings, paired expertly by Gabe Saglie with each piece, performed by pianist Meriette Saglie, will enhance your enjoyment of the music and transport you to a world of sensory delight. You will have the opportunity to taste the unique flavors and aromas of each wine, while experiencing and expressing your take on the different sensations that each composer's music evokes.
During the pre-concert mingle, you will have the chance to connect with other wine and music enthusiasts as well as our featured artists, and enjoy a variety of hand-crafted cheese from Cypress Grove and Marin French Cheese, as well as other refreshments.
After the concert, stay for a while and sip on a delicious wine cocktail featuring L&L at the bar, while discussing the concert with your fellow attendees. This event promises to be a night to remember, and we look forward to sharing this unique experience with you.
Don't miss your chance to join us for "Harmonious Impressions" on Saturday, March 25th at The Heart Department in DTLA Arts District, at 7PM. Get your tickets now and prepare to be transported to a world of sensory delight!
