Hosts
Hi everyone, after hosting a few Groupmuse house concerts in San Francisco, we are excited to grow this amazing community in Paris.
Groupmuse's mission is to take classical music out of the concert hall and make it more accessible through low-key events.
What's the music?
The Quatuor Magenta is thrilled to perform our very first Groupmuse in Paris!
We'll be bringing you on a guided tour of two of our favourite pieces of chamber music: a light and lyrical early Beethoven quartet followed by Ligeti's "Métamorphoses Nocturnes" (1953), a wild soundscape that travels from darkness and mystery to humour and rock 'n roll energy, then back again.
Program:
Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in G Major, Op. 76 No. 1
Gyorgy Ligeti: String Quartet No. 1 "Métamorphoses Nocturnes"
Made up of French-Polish violinist Ida Derbesse, French-American violinist Elena Watson-Perry, French violist Claire Pass-Lanneau, and Canadian cellist Fiona Robson, the QUATUOR MAGENTA took form in 2020 and since then has performed in concerts across Europe and been invited to prestigious competitions, including the ARD Competition in Munich and the Haydn Competition in Vienna. Having studied individually at a kaleidoscope of prestigious music schools including McGill University, The Guildhall School and Cleveland Institute of Music, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris was their common denominator.

Programme :
Ludwig van Beethoven : Quatuor à cordes Op. 18 No. 3 en ré majeur
Gyorgy Ligeti : Quatuor à cordes No. 1 "Métamorphoses Nocturnes"
