Our last Groupmuse before the pandemic was December 8 2019. Almost exactly three years later we are back. So eager to welcome music lovers and musicians to my home all over again.
As of now, we are asking everyone to mask. We may adjust that depending on the number of attendees. If you want to come but really do not want to mask, let me know. We can probably accomodate.
What's the music?
Join the Rasa String Quartet for an evening that explores the art of musical portraiture through the vivid storytelling of folk traditions with some Rasa holiday flair! The program pairs the works of three modern American folk-inspired composers with a Beethoven string quartet.
We think this is a great program to jump-start the joyful, warm, and festive holiday season!! Bring a significant other, friend, or family member and experience some feel-good music while sipping your drink of choice, in a warm and cozy home!
Note: Violinist Jean Huang will be our guest artist for this performance as Maura Shawn Scanlin had a last minute conflict.

The Boston-based Rasa String Quartet finds their niche exploring the musical space where classical and folk traditions intersect and influence one another. They are the 2022-23 ensemble in residence at Phillips Exeter Academy and winners of the 2022 Associazione Europea Di Musica E Comunicazione International Chamber Music Competition (Italy,) the 2021 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition (ATL,) and the 2021 Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition (OH.) The quartet can be found collaborating with the preeminent folk musicians of today, performing their own programs in venues and festivals around the country, and participating in artistic and educational residencies at a variety of institutions. Inspired by the connection between music and storytelling at the heart of folk traditions, Rasa String Quartet creates engaging and fresh programs that are approachable by a wide range of people. Educating their audiences by contextualizing the genres, styles, and composers they present, they invite their listeners to experience a variety of both familiar and unfamiliar sounds with curiosity and openness.
