Opera is back at Five Mile Lake! Opera Unbound reworks classic operas to fit modern audiences by shortening them to around an hour and putting them in modern English. With the many uncertainties that came with the pandemic we want to create music to bring our communities back together.
Though centuries have passed since Donizetti’s Elixir of Love premiered, one thing has not changed - love is a crazy, and sometimes we need a little liquid courage to help us! You can help make this condensed production of this masterpiece, with a new English libretto happen.
Ample parking is available. Take I-5 to 18 E. Once on 18 E take the Weyerhauser Way S exit and turn Right. Continue onto S 349th St which becomes 28th Ave S after a slight left (1 mile). Turn left onto S 360th St. Go .3 miles and Turn right onto 32nd Ave S which becomes S 369th Pl after 400ft turn left onto 34th Ave S. Our house is hidden down a short gravel driveway off of 34th Ave S and there are 6 steps down to the front door. Busing to this location is not recommended but is possible.
What's the music?
Come enjoy a condensed version of Donizetti’s hilarious and charming rom-com Elixir of Love, sung in an new, modern English translation. It’s a tale as old as time. Boy likes girl. Girl isn’t sure about him. Boy buys a “performance enhancing” elixir, et voila, we have comedy and a love story that is completely relatable, underscored by Donizetti’s tuneful bel canto music.
