1-Capullito de Aleli -Beautiful bud of wallflower,
Beautiful bud of wallflower,
If you knew my pain
You would correspond to my love
And you would calm my suffering,
Because, you know that without you
Life is nothing for me,
You know very well,
Little buds of wallflowers.
Beautiful bud of wallflower,
If you knew my pain
You would correspond to my love
And you would calm my suffering,
Because, you know that without you
Life is nothing for me,
You know very well,
Little buds of wallflowers.
There's nothing for me in the world
Another bud of wallflower
That I can provide my passion
And I can offer my heart,
Because you're the woman
To whom I've given my love,
And I swore to you, beautiful wallflower,
Fidelity until death.
That's why I sing for you,
My little bud of wallflower
Give me your seductive fragrance
And of your love a little.
Because, you know that without you
Life is nothing for me,
You know very well,
Little buds of wallflower.
That's why I sing for you,
My little bud of wallflower
Give me your seductive fragrance
And of your love a little.
Because, you know that without you
Life is nothing for me,
You know very well,
Little buds of wallflowers.
You know very well
Little buds of wallflowers.
2-Maria Lando-
Dawn breaks shattering like a statue
like a statue of wings that scatter throughout the city
And noon sings like a bell made of water
A bell made of golden water that keeps us from loneliness
And the night lifts its tall goblet
its tall, tall goblet, early moon over the sea
But for Maria there is no dawn
But for Maria there is no midday
But for Maria there is no moon
lifting its red goblet over the waters
Maria has no time (María Landó)
to lift her eyes
Maria to lift her eyes, (María Landó)
broken by lack of sleep
Maria broken by lack of sleep (María Landó)
from so much suffering
Maria from so much suffering, (María Landó)
all she does is work
Maria just works and works
Maria only works
and her work enriches others
3-Amarraditos-Hand in Glove
We go hand in glove
foam and velvet,
you with a creak of starch
and I serious and haughty
People stare at us
with envy by the street,
the neighbors murmur
like the friends and the mayor.
They say is no more in style
neither you comb nor my hair clip,
they say is no more in style
neither your locket nor my belt
I know that are in style
your big eyes and my pride,
when you go taking my arm
in daylight and without hurry.
Our cart driver waits for us
in front of the main church,
and slowly we go over the track,
I salute touching the brim
of my best hat,
and you shake your kerchief with grace.
I know is no more in style, I know is no more in style
that I put in the dinner
jasmines on the buttonhole
Of course is looks like a game
but there's nothing better
than being a sir of those
that my grandparents saw.
Our cart driver waits for us
in front of the main church,
and slowly we go over the track,
you salute touching the brim
of your best hat,

I know is no more in style, I know is no more in style

4-¡Viva Jujuy! -
Long live Jujuy
Long live the Puna,
Long live my beloved!
Long live the painted hills of my ravine,
of my Humahuaqueña ravine,
don't break away from my love,
you are the owner of my heart!
Long live Jujuy and the beauty of the jujeñas,
long live the well-blackened braids
of my brunette,
of my brunette, my coyita,
don't break away from my love,
you are my life
don’t break away from my love,
you are my life
6-Duerme negrito-Sleep Little Black Child
Sleep, sleep black child,
Your mother is at the field, black child.
Sleep, sleep black child,
Your mother is at the field, black child.
She will bring squails for you,
She will bring delicious fruit for you,
She will bring pork for you,
She will bring lots of things for you.
And if the black doesn't sleep,
The white devil comes
and Zas! eats his leg,
Yakapumba yakapumba,
Apumba yakapumba,
Yakapumba yakapumba.
Sleep, sleep black child,
Your mother is at the field, black child.
Working, working very hard,
Working, yes,
Working and she grieves,
Working, yes,
Working and they don't pay her,
Working, yes,
Working and she coughs,
Working, yes,
For the small black child,
For the black child, yes
Working, yes,
Working, yes,
Sleep, sleep black child,
Your mother is at the field, black child.
Black child, black child, black child.
7-Caballo viejo-Old horse!
When love comes like this, in this way
you don't even realize it;
the "caraotal" turns green again,
and the guamacho flowers
and the rope snaps
When love comes like this, in this way
you don't even realize it;
the "caraotal" turns green again,
and the guamacho flowers
and the rope snaps
Horse is put out to pasture
'cause he's old and tired
but they don't even realize
that a tied up heart
when the reins are released
turns into a wild horse
And if old horse finds a chestnut fill
his heart is unstrung;
he'll ignore the bride
and he won't obey the bi,
and false reins won't stop him.
When love comes like this, in this way
no one is to blame,
love doesn't keep a schedule
nor a date on the calendar
when desires come together
When love comes like this, in this way
no one is to blame,
love doesn't keep a schedule
nor a date on the calendar
when desires come together
Horse is put out to pasture
and his days are numbered
and he leaves in the morning
taking little hurried steps
to meet up with the filly
that has him tied up in knots
The colt gives time to time
'cause he's more than old enough,
Old horse can't lose
the flower given to him,
'Cause after this life
there's no other opportunity.
8-Carinhoso-Tenderly Loving
My heart, I don't know why,
beats happily when it sees you.
and my eyes keep smiling
and through the streets (they) follow you.
but still you run off from me.
Ah, if you (only) knew
how much tenderly loving I am,
and how much I desire you,
and how sincere my love is.
I know you would no longer run off from me.
Come, come, come, come
come and feel the warmth of my lips
in search of yours.
come and sate this passion
that devours my heart.
and just so, I will then be happy,
very happy
9-Se dice de mi-They Say About Me
They say about me,
They say about me,
They say that I’m a scarecrow,
That I walk like some cheap dandy
And that though my legs are bandy
I move like a sleazy fox,
That I’m like a brontosaurus,
That my pointy nose is bigger,
That I’m not helped by my figure
And my mouth is like a box
If I chat with Lou, with Pete or with John,
The others will talk about how I am
They analyze if my waistline is gone,
They watch if I come or stay there or scram.
They say a lot of things but
Most of them are pretty silly.
When they think of me then willy-
Nilly they all lose their head
I know that many who will scorn my company will
Sigh for me and shiver
when they think my love is their reward.
And more than one melts when I sigh
and when I just give him a look
he’ll just be standing there
and puffing like a Ford.
If I’m a sight, let’s say it’s so,
Though I’m not even sure of that,
But when it comes to love, I know,
That many fools I have left flat.
Maybe they’ll talk, maybe they’ll say,
Maybe they’ll hiss, maybe they’ll bray
But many women wish they had
My ugly face, of which I’m glad.
And they won’t say that I am fooled
Because by modesty I’m ruled.
That’s how I am.
Have two eyes that are like dreaming,
Many other charms that seemingly
Cause many men to flip.
If I’m ugly, still I’m certain
That my skin’s as sweet as candy,
Those who say my legs are bandy
Haven’t seen me in a slip.
Men still criticize my voice when I talk,
My cough and my style, the way that I walk
They criticize if I already my waistline is gone,
they check if I go, if I come or if I left.
Many things are said
but the shape doesn’t matter,
because they lose their head
concerning themselves about me.
I know that many snub the company I keep
and sigh for me and die when they think of my love.
And more than one melts if I sigh
and if I look at them,
they gasp like they score a Ford.
If I’m ugly, let’s say it’s so,
though I’m not aware of that,
when it comes to love, all I know,
that I left stranded more than one fool.
They might say, they might talk,
and gossip and bray,
but the ugliness that God gave me
many women envied it
and they won’t say that I deceived myself
because I was always modest.
I am this way.
10- El corazón al sur-The Southern Heart
I was born in a neighborhood
where the luxury was a chance,
Therefore, I have my heart looking at the south.
My father was a bee in the hive,
his clean hands, a good soul.
And in this childhood, temperance built me up,
after, my life was a thousand roads stretched out for me
and I knew from the magnate and from the gambler,
Therefore, I have my heart looking at the south.
My neighborhood was a jasmine plant,
the shadow was my life in the garden,
the sweet celebration of simpler things
and the peace in the grass couch* of the sun's face...
My neighborhood was my people that weren't there,
the things that haven't yet come.
If since the day that I was myself
with the emotion and with the cross,
I know that I have the heart looking at the south.
The geography of my neighborhood fills me,
It will be therefore from all that wasn't me,
The corner, the department store, the groups of kids,
I recognize them... they're something like mine.
Now I know that the distance isn't real
and I discovered myself in this cardinal point
Coming back to the childhood since the light,
Always having my heart looking at the south…
11-Transporte-Transportation
Right now and here
Wherever you are
Part of my soul
Go meet you
You know I carry you inside me
Just like I know that you carry me inside
This is a slight press
That makes its way to you
Crossing the stations,
Constellations, the moments
I say this life is bearable
Just because you feel you
What I feel
Where are you?
I have the North
And there's nothing like your love
As a means of transport
Right now, precisely
More singing and more I have you present
The more I keep you in mind
Because where are you?
I have the North
And there's nothing like your love
As a means of transport
