La Dualité de Flute explores solos and duos for flute by French composers, highlighting the two major compositional styles that emerged in France. The concert emphasizes the stylistic differences between the music of the ornate and brilliant French Baroque and classical period and the later music of the evocative, colorful style of composition birthed from the Paris Conservatoire, developing alongside advances in flute pedagogy at the turn of the 20th century. The concert features works by Boismortier, Devienne, Naudot, Bozza, Debussy, and Poulenc.
Dr. Hilary Jones, Adjunct Professor in the Fine and Performing Arts at Iona College, performs with special guests Bart Feller, flute, Danielle Giulini, violin, and Andrew Griffin, viola. The performance is presented by the Iona College Council on the Arts in conjunction with the chamber music platform groupmuse.
This program will benefit the Iona College College Council on the Arts supporting continuing arts programming
