Host

French Kings Louis XIV and Louis XV were great patrons of the arts, including music. Entwyned Early Music performs elegant and sumptuous repertoire by composer-performers at the court of the Sun King and his successor, featuring a suite by Jacques Martin Hotteterre, and pieces by Michel Blavet, Marin Marais, and Robert De Visée. Baroque flutes, theorbo, liuto attiorbato, and viola da gamba are the instruments we three play to bring this literature to life. For contrast, we also program a delightful suite by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier and a set of French or French-inspired pieces from about 1650 to 2018.
