Hi everyone! I've played in Groupmuses for several years now this is the first one I'm doing all by myself, and I'm very excited to spend the evening with you. It's been a year now without live music events, during which resilient musicians and audiences have adapted to new platforms, technologies, and modes of being and listening. To commemorate, grieve, reflect on, etc. and mark this odd anniversary, I'm presenting Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's piano suite The Seasons, a set of twelve short piano pieces- one for each month- that describe perhaps a most idyllic experience of a year in passing. Short poetic epigraphs, included in the Russian edition and chosen by the publisher Nikolay Bernard, will preface every movement. I hope you'll join me in reliving a poignant, secret year encapsulated in these beautiful pieces- sometimes simple and childlike, sometimes melancholy and longing, sometimes unabashedly joyful.
