What's the music?
Kick off your weekend with a special preview of the Boston Chamber Music Society's season opener! Sit back, relax (or plant yourself in the midst of all the action), and enjoy one of Bach's most celebrated masterpieces presented with a twist: Pianist Randall Hodgkinson has divided the Goldberg Variations - originally composed for two-manual harpsichord - between piano and string trio to create a performance which integrates the keyboard version with Sitkovetsky's arrangement of the same work for string trio. Randy and the trio, comprised of violinist Jennifer Frautschi, violist Marcus Thompson and cellist Raman Ramakrishnan, will take turns performing variations to bring out the intricacies of the music by showcasing different timbral qualities and instrumental effects.
