Tim and I are ecstatic to unite in yet another livestream concert. Our previous concert, titled Love Truly Matters, was such a success that we had to finish out the year strong. Featuring Beethoven’s innovative themes and variations, inspired by Handel’s oratorio - most commonly known as See, the Conqu'ring Hero Comes, you will hear a classic Beethoven manipulation of another master’s work for an orchestra with chorus, diluted and transformed into another masterful work only two instruments. Continuing with Ravel’s vocalise, a study of an Habanera form, showing the composer’s interest in Cuban syncopated music. The second half features Chopin's cello sonata. Known as the poet of piano, Chopin ventured into writing the only string’s sonata. The riveting melodies and conversational passages between the cello and piano complete our concert.
What's the music?
Beethoven: Themes and Variations on Handel's Judas Maccabäus (See, the Conqu'ring Hero Comes)
Ravel: Vocalise Étude on a form of Habanera
-Short pause-
Chopin: Cello sonata
