In Palaver String's debut performance, we kick our feet off the Pavement with dance music!
Palaver Strings, a conductor-less string orchestra, strives to bring classical music beyond the concert hall through collaboration between the arts, while promoting art as a catalyst for change and social justice.
Our venue (Pavement Coffeehouse at 736 Commonwealth Ave.) is steps away from the BU Central stop on the Green Line, with limited street parking. Bring blankets and/or pillows to sit on! Pavement's full menu will be available until 8pm. Affogatos (espresso with ice cream) will be sold after 8pm! Music begins around 7pm.
While the event is free, there is a suggested donation of $5-$10. Part of the proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders to help medical work against the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa.
What's the music?
-the Mascagni Intermezzo
-Prokofiev Quartet No. 2, with the talented dancer Erica Pike doing her own solo choreography and improvisation!
-A set of Irish fiddle music:
Fisher's Hornpipe
La Bruxa
The road to Lisdoonvarna/Tommy Pott's/Old Favorite
Brauch Na Cairrige Baine
The Big Reel of Ballynacally/The High Hill/The Reconciliation
