This July 4th will no doubt feel different than those that have come before. Not only must we be far more circumspect about who we’re sharing our cookout condiments with, but at this moment of great cultural upheaval and transition, it behoves us to revisit the fundamentals of what we want this country to truly embody and what we want to fight for as we watch the bombs bursting in air. But leading up to that, we’ve got an early evening Massivemuse to gather around before the sun goes down. And we’ve prepared some fireworks of our own:

Autumn Salon is an organization that aims to raise awareness around individuals who, through connecting the traditional wisdom of the past with the living energy of the present, are contributing to a global culture of the future. Its aesthetic is immaculate and its quality can’t be topped. And for July 4th, Autumn Salon is bringing in the great Russian pianist Asiya Korepanova for a production-quality livestream, beamed forth just for our community.

Korepanova has won international competitions, played at Carnegie Hall, and established herself as one of the most multi-faceted superstar talents rising today. Saturday will be a showcase:

She’ll start with her own transcription of the art song 'Extase' by Amy Beach — arguably America’s greatest Romantic composer and one of the desperately few women from that era whose music we still celebrate. Next will be the first movement of Asiya's transcription of the complete Sergey Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata, Op. 19.

The second half of the program will be works by Franz Liszt, Peter Tchaikovsky, and Modest Mussorgsky — coupled with original poems and artworks that Korepanova has prepared for these works. So many dimensions of talent and expression — it’ll make for an unforgettable one.

Out of respect for those who need to make the fireworks, we’re starting the evening with a Zoom gathering at 5pm EDT. Then we’ll move to the YouTube stream at 5.30pm for a production abundant with Autumn Salon’s signature lushness and care. Then it’s back to the Zoom for a Q and A with our star for the evening, and we’ll wrap before sundown!

Can’t wait to see you all there!
