Come to a virtual concert with chamber music as it was meant to be heard: in the chamber! Our guest musician is the award-winning classical guitarist John Marcel Williams, who is quickly establishing himself as one of the most promising young classical guitarists of this generation.
Included in the program is one of J.S. Bach’s greatest works: Chaconne, the final movement of his 2nd Violin Partita. While a “chaconne” is a form of musical composition such as a prelude or fugue, this particular chaconne is regarded as one of the finest compositions in the classical repertoire and one need only say “The Chaconne” to reference Bach’s masterpiece.
Also included is a piece by the Spanish composer Enrique Granados. “La Maja de Goya,” was written for piano and voice but is perfectly suited and most often played on the guitar. Granados drew his inspiration for the piece from works by Francisco Goya, the famous Spanish painter.
We hope you can join us to hear these and much more!
