Mari didn't get a birthday party, so we're throwing a virtual house concert instead! Friends and strangers alike should come join us from far and wide over the magic of Zoom and Youtube for an evening of baroque and 20th century cello music.
Philip Sheegog has stitched together what he calls "Frankenstein's Bach Cello Suite": one movement from each of Bach's six cello suites interspersed with gems of the 20th century cello repertoire. Plus we'll say hello and chat and get to see people in little boxes on our screens.
What's the music?
— Frankenstein’s Bach Cello Suite —
Too much time in the quarantine laboratory gave rise to this musical madness! A “new” Bach cello suite….created from chopped up bits of all six Bach cello suites! Stitched in between each glorious movement of Bach are gems of the 20th-century cello repertoire — full of passion, pain, curiosity, and serenity — pulling together music both new and old into a new, hybridized creation.
