Among the many cultural riches of our Nation’s Capital is its proliferation of splendid singers. Perhaps it’s the abundance of churches that dot the city's modest skyline, perhaps it’s the stresses of governmental work that drive folk to seek solace and relief in the beauty and humanity of the voice. Whatever the reason, it means that choral offerings are always abundant in these parts, and our brilliant and wonderful new friends at The Thirteen are inviting us along for their next one, so off we go to a Night Out in the City!
The Thirteen is a celebrated choir born of a baker’s dozen sublime vocal talents and the offering is a concert entitled Mystic. In their own words, the evening is a meditation on "humanity’s search for the divine across time and space. With nearly a millennium of music, featuring the German composer Hildegard von Bingen, Spanish composers Victoria and Lobo, Estonian minimalist Arvo Pärt, and contemporary American composer Mason Bates, this concert is sure to provide a sublime, reflective, and passionate evening.”
The unfolding happens at the dazzling and modern First Congregational United Church of Christ in the heart of downtown. Tickets for this world of sound and scope typically run $30 — but we’ve got a half-off stack for $15! But it’s limited so make your move!
And have a great Night Out.
