For years, Chamber Music San Fransisco has lovingly done the work of ensuring the chamber music offerings in the Bay Area are world class - and they’ve succeeded admirably, bringing through the best and brightest stars in the classical music world to delight, unite, and expand local audiences with the Genius of the Ages. And in the month of February, they have no fewer than two incredible concerts they wish our community to join for a couple of Nights Out!

The first is February 9th at the legendary Herbst Theatre, featuring the internationally renowned Polish string quartet, Apollon Musagète Quartet. They’re prepared a triptych of masterworks - first comes F.J. Haydn’s effervescent and sublime Quartet Op. 64 No. 5 "The Lark”. It’s followed by Beethoven’s great early masterwork, his Quartet Op. 18 No 3. The finale is Antonin Dvorak’s mellifluous and brooding late greatness, his last quartet Quartet Op. 105, no. 14. Tickets average $40, but yours will be $20 if you move!

The second offering is February 22nd, also at Herbst, and it’ll feature the young Russian-British violin virtuoso Alexander Sitkovetsky and the equally great Wu Qian on the ivories. The two centerpieces of the program are Edvard Grieg’s Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45 - one of the most expansive pieces the Romantic Norweigan genius ever wrote and ur-Romantic Robert Schumann’s Sonata No. 2 in D minor, Op. 121, from the last years of his brilliant and tortured life. For this as well, the tickets are $40, but we’ve got a limited stack for $20!

Whichever your pleasure, we wish you a grand Night Out!
