For decades and even centuries, Boston, for all of its cultural heft and might and depth, struggled to establish a stable opera scene. We don’t want to speak too soon, but we feel compelled to declare that in the last generation, that struggle has finally come to a close, as our great city has exploded with a proliferation of dynamic and adventurous operatic offerings. And, thanks to Enigma Chamber Opera we just got a very last minute offer for an experience this Friday!
Packed with some of Boston’s most brilliant talent, Enigma is a brand new opera company, and this performance is its maiden voyage, and they’re carrying forward Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. So let’s join them and be part of history!
Benjamin Britten is the most celebrated English opera composer in history - which makes him a particular treat for us native English speakers. And this work, based on Henry James’ gripping and haunting novella, is often considered one of his greatest masterworks.
It’s complex, psychologically profound, thrilling, dramatic, and laden with so much sublime music.
Tickets typically run $35 - but we’ve got a more-than-half-off-stack for only $15! That’s a whole lot of Opera magic for not a lotta dough! But sales close up in two days, because the show is on Friday, so make your move!
And have a great Night Out at the Opera!
