About
I am a Mississippian that has been living in Boulder since 2017. I completed my Masters and DMA in Keyboard Performance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I studied with Andrew Willis.
My musical interests range from the music of antiquity to works by new composers, and everything in between. I love diving into the social and historical contexts around music as well as exploring how a piece functiona from a music theory standpoint, and I always hope to communicate my understanding of a piece to my audience as part of the dialogue with them. I am always eager for new musical experiences, people to play with, and communities to play for!
When not playing music, I'm either trail running, reading a good book, cooking for friends and family, or studying about wine
Music
I like to play anything I can get my hands on!
Examples of current works in progress include: Henri Dutilleux's Piano Sonata; Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin; various Frescobaldi Toccatas; JS Bach's Partita 6 BWV 830 and Organ Trio BWV 825; and John Cage's Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano.
Works performed in the past include: Chopin's 4 Ballades; Debussy's 12 Etudes and Images, Books 1 & 2; Skalkottas' Theme and 15 Variations; various Ligeti Etudes; ~ 18 Beethoven Sonatas; Bach's Partitas BWV 825-827; Frederic Rzewski's North American Ballads and Four Pieces; Poulenc's Sonata for 2 Pianos; various pieces by CPE Bach, Sweelinck, Froberger; the list goes on!
In addition to works in the canon, I like to explore contemporary "popular" music: I'm currently working on arrangements of pieces by Radiohead as well as a 2 piano arrangement of Tool's piece Schism.
